What we do, precisely
High-level groupage road freight between Europe and Türkiye, in both directions. Part loads: your consignment shares a vehicle rather than filling one. Door-to-door total logistics is the operating model, and it has not changed since 1998.
Fourteen country corridors appear in our records. Italy carries 85.2 % of the volume, which is why five of our terminals are there — Milano, Vicenza, Torino, Bologna and Firenze, through a joint company with our Italian partner Insped Srl, trading as Insped General Cargo Srl.
Three companies, one file
The group has three members, and the division is not cosmetic. Transport runs through General Kargo Ul. Taş. Ltd., an IATA member. Customs clearance runs through General Gümrük Müş. Ltd. Cargo insurance runs through Servis Sigorta Ar. Hiz. Ltd.
In part-load freight that structure has a measurable consequence. A consignment travels with other shippers' goods, so one incomplete customs file does not delay one shipment — it delays the trailer. When the declaration is prepared by people who can see the shipment file, the gap surfaces before loading rather than at the frontier. The services pages set out what each company actually does.
Why we publish our own numbers
Most transit figures in this industry are estimates, and they are rarely pessimistic ones. Ours come from our operating system: 41,308 status records logged against 10,224 shipment files, with the date they were taken printed next to every figure.
We publish the slowest recorded case alongside the average, and we leave extremes in rather than trimming them. Where a recorded value is impossible — a transit of zero days — we remove it and say which lane it affected. The full method is on how we measure.
What we do not claim
We operate no terminals outside Italy. We carry no freight east of Türkiye — where cargo reaches Türkiye via the Middle Corridor, we handle the European leg and nothing further. We publish no rates on this site, because a price depends on the goods, the weight, the collection point and the customs effort.
Anything on these pages that is not our own measurement is marked as external and listed with its source.
Frequently asked questions
Who is General Cargo?
An international freight forwarder based in Istanbul, founded in 1998 and part of the General Logistic Group. High-level groupage road freight between Europe and Türkiye is the core business. General Kargo Ul. Taş. Ltd. is an IATA member.
What does "part of a group" mean in practice?
Three companies: transport, customs brokerage and insurance agency. For a part load that is not an organisational detail — an incomplete customs file holds up a whole trailer, so having the declaration prepared inside the same organisation that moves the freight changes what actually happens at the border.
Where do you operate?
Between Europe and Türkiye. Fourteen country corridors appear in our records, and we run five own terminals in Italy through a joint company with our Italian partner. We do not operate terminals outside Italy and we do not carry freight east of Türkiye.
Why does this site publish so many numbers?
Because the alternative is asking you to take an estimate on trust. Every transit figure here is calculated from 41,308 status records logged against 10,224 shipment files, and the method is documented openly — including the cases where we judged a recorded value not good enough to publish.
